Our Story
K T Transload, short for King of Trails Transload, is the realization of a long-held dream, nurtured over nine years by its founders, John Sather and Justin Koenig. As a farmer-owned enterprise, our vision was to establish a transload company aimed at expanding the market reach for organic farms in the Upper Midwest. In 2022, this dream took shape as we acquired an operational elevator and embarked on the journey to transform it into a vital hub for our mission.
Located strategically with service provided by both the BNSF and the Twin Cities and Western Railroad (Union Pacific access via Appleton, MN) , our facility underwent significant upgrades, including the reconstruction of railroad tracks and the addition of essential infrastructure. Today, we proudly boast the capacity to spot 28 railcars simultaneously, enhancing efficiency and throughput.
Our focus lies on serving both the organic and non-GMO grain industry, with a commitment to maintaining organic certification by the MCIA (Minnesota Crop Improvement Association). Embracing cutting-edge technology, we have integrated RFID systems for streamlined operations, ensuring seamless coordination between trucks and rail.
As we march towards our goal of full operational capacity by mid-2024, we remain dedicated to facilitating the growth and prosperity of organic farming communities while upholding the highest standards of quality and sustainability.
